Randy Lewis

Randy has been dancing / cueing / teaching for over 25 years. Randy started square dance lessons in the fall of 1981 graduating spring of 1982. Whereupon, with the aid of other locals singles, he helped form the Circul-8-N Singles square dance club. He also joined the Hillsboro Hoedown where he had taken lessons. He immediately was interested in learning to round dance. He started by just getting out on the floor and following other experienced dancers. That summer he took a crash course of private lessons in easy level rounds. Fall of 1982 he began Plus square dance lessons, intermediate round dance lessons, cueing lessons, and assisted another teacher with a phase 2 round dance class - concurrently. He began dancing, teaching, and instructing with his partner Debbie Olson in 2004. They have done demos at several Oregon Square and Round Dance Festivals.

Randy first began cueing for the Tualatin Twirlers in the fall of 1983. He has also been club cuer for the Cross Trailers, Barn Owls, Plus Knights (25 years and counting), and now Country Capers. Randy has guest cued for many clubs over the years, at the Oregon Mid Winter and Summer Festivals, at National Square Dance festivals, and at International Round Dance conventions (URDC / ICBDA). Randy has attended countless dance weekends and workshops. In addition to his cueing for Country Capers and Plus Knights, Randy currently runs a phase 3-4 Danceshop (dance/workshop) once a month, teaches private lessons and is also teaching phase 3 group lessons. Randy has also choreographed over 25 dances.

Randy dances, cues, and teaches all levels and rhythms - from easy level rounds through phase 6 advanced level. He is a member of ORDTA (Oregon Round Dance Teachers Association), ICBDA (International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association), and Roundalab (insured and BMI/Ascap licensed).
